Pride, Prejudice and Mistletoe: Charming and Full of Heart!

When it comes to Christmas movies, no one does it quite like Hallmark! Each movie delivers heartwarming stories of family and love. Pride, Prejudice and Mistletoe hits the mark and more. With the fantastic pairing of Lacey Chabert and Brendan Penny, Pride, Prejudice and Mistletoe is a lovely, holiday movie. Although more pride than prejudice, it still pays homage to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice

Pride, Prejudice and Mistletoe Review

Based on the novel by New York Times bestselling author, Melissa de la Cruz, Pride, Prejudice and Mistletoe introduces Darcy Fitzwilliam. A successful investment banker, Darcy returns home to Pemberley to celebrate Christmas with her family. Upon arrival, she finds herself paired with her high school debate team rival, Luke Bennett. Together, they help Darcy’s mother plan the Pemberley League’s annual auction to benefit a youth organization. Sparks fly as the two fall into the habit of matching wits. As the auction draws nearer, Darcy begins to find the peace she’s been missing right there in Pemberley.

Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe, Hallmark Movies, Countdown to Christmas, Christmas, Jane Austen

Pride, Prejudice and Mistletoe did not disappoint! While it does depart from the book (both de la Cruz’s and Austen’s), it nevertheless stands on its own. As a result, fans of the book (I’m one of them!) will appreciate the spirit and romance of the movie. I also appreciated how the movie flowed. Occasionally, Hallmark tends to rush some of its films to squeeze as much as possible in a two-hour time-frame. Not so with Pride, Prejudice and Mistletoe. The pacing was spot on.

Moreover, there was a perfect balance of Darcy’s New York life affecting her holiday at home. The cast also had a wonderful dynamic as an ensemble. To say nothing of the chemistry between Lacey Chabert’s Darcy and Brendan Penny’s Luke!

Because Darcy and Luke trade quips at such a rapid pace, it’s easy to picture them doing the same in high school. This lends such authenticity to the movie. I loved how Lacey’s eyes seemed to be laughing in these moments. I especially loved Brendan’s smile, not to mention his dimples!  Each one of Lacey and Brendan’s scenes simply sparkled…or rather, twinkled! These two really made Pride, Prejudice and Mistletoe such a romantic treat!

About Catherine

Catherine is an avid reader and a self-declared professional binge watcher. It's not uncommon to find her re-watching a series or movie for the umpteenth time and still be crying into a box of tissues. When she's not hiding in her closet to read or watch a show or movie, Catherine is a wife, mother, and, in her spare time, a lawyer.

  1. Commenting on my own post because I had to share – there is a scene in which Darcy is eating chocolate pie with swirls of eggnog….I made that pie last night and oh, so yummy!

    • Hi Deanne – I did a google search and ended up using a mix of one I found from Betty Crocker and another from a midwest recipe site. The pie did not last long in my house of eggnog and chocolate lovers!

  2. I’m glad you liked that film! I worked on it last year and though I am an assistant editor I ended up doing a last-minute picture fix to the scene where Darcy joins the Pemberly party. (in the Red Dress.) Stressful but we made it work!

  3. I loved the movie and wish there could be a sequel to the movie . With Darcey and Luke . Maybe a storyline about helping more of the families of their charity possibly become homeless and they help them with a place to stay and then become a sponsor to help people become a homeowner like through Habitat for Humanity.
