From old favorites to new premieres, Hulu’s adding many fantastic romances to their streaming site this month. I’ve included the best choices available to fans of romance in movies and television. From romantic period dramas to romantic comedies, and even a new YA paranormal romance series premiering soon, there’s much to enjoy on Hulu this June!

RELATED:

Below, let’s take a look at my romantic recommendations for Hulu June 2018, each with the official description, personal commentary, rating, and the Hulu release date. Titles are listed in alphabetical order.

(NOTE: We aim to share less explicit content that has PG-13 “like” content and below minus a few exceptions for artistic merit and/or genre interest. If a program is Rated R or TV-M, we will let you know.)

Hulu Synopsis: A genius finds himself on a harrowing journey of self-discovery.

Why You Should Watch: While this biopic is wildly inaccurate to the true events, what makes this Best Picture winner worth watching is the powerful love story.

 PG-13

 Available as of June 1

Hulu Synopsis: Across The Universe, an original musical film, is a love story set against the backdrop of the 1960s, amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, the struggle for free speech and civil rights, mind exploration and rock ‘n roll.

Why You Should Watch: If you love romantic musicals and/or the music of the Beatles, then this underrated film is worth a watch!

 PG-13

Available as of June 1

Hulu Synopsis: The lives and loves of the women of Scarlet magazine.

Why You Should Watch: If you’re looking for a series about positive friendships between women as well as interesting side romances, then this contemporary series might be worth a watch. You also may enjoy this series if you enjoy the NYC magazine scene.

TV-14. While not explicit, the series includes casual dating/sex, vulgar situations, as well as sexual conversations due to the theme of the fictional magazine which may not interest some viewers.

 June 5

Hulu Synopsis: Just when Bridget thinks life is perfect, her relationship with the dreamy Mark Darcy implodes. She sets off on a whirlwind business trip to Thailand where she encounters old flame Daniel Cleaver, and her life gets out-of-control.

Rated R for language and sexual content.

 Available as of June 1

Hulu Synopsis: A romantic drama about a brief, unexpected love affair that catches two people completely off-guard.

Why You Should Watch: If you enjoy quiet love stories with gorgeous cinematography, you won’t want to miss this little-known film. The romantic drama stars Patricia Clarkson and Alexander Siddig.

Why You Should Watch: Because they’re three of the best movies ever made! Besides that, the love stories are powerful and memorable. From the love story between the immortal elf, Arwen, and Aragorn. Or the unrequited love story between Aragorn and Eowyn, you can’t go wrong!

 PG-13

Available as of June 1

Hulu Synopsis: Having no commitments and never being vulnerable, Veronica enjoys being a mistress. She comes to realize her best friend holds the key to her heart and is the only one capable of extracting her emotions.

IMDB Synopsis: Stranded after a tragic plane crash, two strangers must forge a connection to survive the extreme elements of a remote snow-covered mountain. When they realize help is not coming, they embark on a perilous journey across the wilderness.

Why You Should Watch: While this film was marketed as a survival film, what it really is, is a romance! As in true romance novel style. And while not the best film of all time, you can’t really go wrong with the entertainment factor. It’s Idris Elba and Kate Winslet starring in a romance together! And Idris Elba in a survival romance is like the best thing ever!

 PG-13

 Available June 16

Hulu Synopsis: In this wickedly charming tale, Emma Thompson portrays a mysterious nanny with special magical powers who attempts to tame seven very naughty children.

Why You Should Watch: Besides the humor and the family fun, there’s also a charming romance between Colin Firth and Kelly MacDonald!
