November 2016 is upon us and you all know what that means! Gilmore Girls is back! On the day after Thanksgiving, Netflix will premiere Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. The revival includes four original 90-minute episodes with most of the old favorites returning and I, for one, am excited. Now, how to convince the rest of the family for a quick after Thanksgiving binge-watch?

Besides Gilmore Girls, there are a few other highlights. The season 4 return of the addicting Australian period drama, A Place to Call Home premieres Thanksgiving on Acorn TV. A definite must see! Then there is the highly anticipated period drama, The Crown, premiering on Netflix November 4.
And then the one I am most excited about: The Legend of the Blue Sea. This romantic Korean drama about a mermaid premieres on Viki on November 16! With an all-star cast and coming from the brilliant writer of the international hit, My Love From Another Star, this series inspired by a South Korean Folktale is sure to be fantastic! There will be historical elements to the show as well.
Besides these shows, if you’re in search of swoon-worthy love stories and/or good storytelling in Film and TV (from around the world) without the excess of explicit content – then you’ve come to the right place. We embrace romance unabashedly. From the Jane Austen adaptations to the swoon-worthy Korean dramas, to the BBC period productions, the paranormal romance, and more.

Besides romance, we’re on the lookout for great stories that resonate with us! On the list below, expect to find aspects of old-fashioned romance/and or old-fashioned storytelling in the selection.
We’re looking to share and bring back the love for what makes stories wonderful. And without all the graphic sexuality, extreme violence, profanity, vulgarity, cynicism, and lack of emotion. We also aim to find stories from all over the world because every culture has stories worth sharing.

If you’re new to this monthly feature on The Silver Petticoat Review, a quick rundown: At the beginning of each month we put up a researched list of some of the best of what’s new to streaming from various popular (and lesser-known) sites including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Acorn TV, Dramafever, Viki, and more.
Per our site’s focus, the list is mostly focused on PG-13 like content or below minus a few exceptions (usually for artistic reasons or genre interest). Also, we have not seen everything we include, so if something more explicit sneaks past us, we apologize in advance! If we are unsure of the content, or if it’s Rated R or TV-MA, you will see a note next to the title.
I have linked almost every title, so you can learn more about the Film or TV Show to see if it is something of interest to you.
NOTE: The list should not be seen as recommendations! We cannot vouch for the quality of these Films & TV Shows.
