The first trailer for Winter’s Tale based on the novel by Mark Helprin was just released yesterday. Nowadays, there aren’t too many movies that get me excited. But this one, with its near perfect cast and crew mixed with a fantastic story, has me wishing it was already in theaters. Like NOW.
Here’s the official description:
“Set in a mythic New York City and spanning more than a century, “Winter’s Tale” is a story of miracles, crossed destinies, and the age-old battle between good and evil. The film stars Colin Farrell (“Total Recall”), Jessica Brown Findlay (TV’s “Downton Abbey”), and Oscar® winners Jennifer Connelly (“A Beautiful Mind”), William Hurt (“Kiss of the Spider Woman”), Eva Marie Saint (“On the Waterfront”) and Russell Crowe (“Gladiator”). “Winter’s Tale” also introduces young newcomers Ripley Sobo and Mckayla Twiggs (both from Broadway’s “Once”). The film marks the directorial debut of Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (“A Beautiful Mind”), who also wrote the screenplay, based on the acclaimed novel by Mark Helprin.”
On top of the actors listed above the film also stars Will Smith, Matt Bomer and Lucy Griffiths. It’s an epic fantasy love story that is bound to make everyone swoon, particularly when they’ve cast Colin Farrell in the romantic lead.

Winter’s Tale opens on February 14. It looks like this Valentine’s Day will actually have a good romantic movie (an arguably dwindling movie genre) for everyone to go see and I personally can’t wait. A literary romance…my favorite.
(For anyone wondering, the incredible song used in the trailer is “Wings” by Birdy.)
Is anyone as excited for this movie as I am? Let me know in the comments below!

Wow I’ve never heard of this one before but it does look epic. And like I’ll spend a decent amount crying. I better bring my tissues.
I remember vaguely hearing about it a while back, but I didn’t think about it until they released the trailer yesterday! Needless to say, I completely agree. It looks epic. I haven’t read the book yet, so maybe there will somehow be a happy ending!
