What is your favorite book, movie and/or TV Show?
My very favourite book is Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and the 1995 BBC adaptation of the book is my favourite TV adaptation.
Is there any kind of music or any songs that inspire you?
As a teenager I loved The Who and I think that the 1975 film Tommy was a big influence in my choice of working with people with special needs as a career.
Do you have any book recommendations?
I really enjoyed Inside the Whale by Jennie Rooney (06/10/2009)
Any guilty pleasures?
I love dancing – at the moment modern jive is my addiction.
Are there any writers that influence you?
As an author there are many that influence; if I had to name a couple I would say Georgette Heyer and Mary Balogh. Of course my first influence was Jane Austen – many thanks to the school English syllabus for including her work.
If you could own one classic first edition book what would it be?
I know I might be seeming boring but It would have be Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.
Is there any movie that made you cry?
I am really bad with children’s Disney movies. Bambi; 101 Dalmations; Dumbo all made me cry. I cry every Christmas at Holiday Inn. Not a film but the West End Theatre production of Miss Saigon with the original cast of Jonathon Pryce really made me cry and had such a profound effect for days after I had seen it.
What fashion trend do you wish would come back?
Wigs. This is purely selfishness and vanity as my hair is thinning as I get older and this is not a good thing.
Who is your favorite Jane Austen Romantic Hero?
It would have to be Darcy from Pride and Prejudice, however, in the 1995 film adaptation of Sense and Sensibility it would have to be Brandon as I love Alan Rickman who played this character.
What is the funniest movie you’ve ever seen?
I know some may be offended by it but Monty Python’s The Life of Brian makes me laugh out loud every time I watch it.

Having been introduced to Jane Austen novels while in high school she developed a life-long passion for history and historical novels.
With two grown children who have now left home and a lots of storyline ideas Helen has now found the time to pursue her dream of writing historical novels. When she is not writing, Helen works part time as a community nurse with people with learning disabilities.
