I grew up during the era of Disney movies such as The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast. Watching these films throughout my childhood encouraged a deep love of fairy tales in me, while also turning me into a walking billboard during those years. I remember I had one Little Mermaid dress that I would wear so often my parents had to buy three more of the same dress in different colors just so I would wear clean clothes. I was definitely a Disney kid, so when I found out Disney had begun making movies similar to the ones from my childhood again, I was psyched. I am a proud and true lover of Tangled.

Coming up this Fall, Disney is releasing another classic style movie based loosely on the fairy tale “The Snow Queen” called Frozen. The story introduces the plucky and optimistic Anna and her friend Kristoff, who set off on an epic journey to stop Anna’s sister, Elsa, from keeping their kingdom, Arendelle, stuck in perpetual winter.
Like the story it’s based off, the two heroes have to face a host of challenges involving trolls, freezing Everest-like conditions, and even an animated snowman named Olaf. I love this fairy tale and am really looking forward to seeing Disney’s interpretation of it. Kristen Bell, one of my favorite actresses, is playing Anna; and to top it off Idina Menzel is playing the voice of Elsa.
It may be for kids, and even though I may be above the accepted age for still going to see cartoons at the movie theater, I’d say I’m a kid at heart, and that’s all that really matters.
