8 Romantic Hallmark Channel Originals to Stay In With

Portrait of Love

The weather in the Northern hemisphere has been dreary this season. With fog lingering nearly every day, clouds covering the earth like a blanket and nary a peek of sunlight, it’s been a typical winter in the North. Heading into, what is notoriously the cloudiest month of the year, makes me want to curl up on the couch with a good story. Sometimes that might be in the form of a well-loved novel or the magic of TV.

Today, we’re going to spotlight the latter. Specifically, a few of the televised originals from the popular and much loved “Heart of TV,” the Hallmark Channel. The fun part of so many of these films is that they pull familiar ideas from our favorite romantic comedies and make them their own (sans the need for a PG-13 rating).

8 Romantic Hallmark Channel Originals to Stay In With

#1 Bridal Wave

Hallmark Channel Original Romances

Cute with a beautiful tropical setting, Bridal Wave is a romantic-comedy about a woman days away from her wedding, who meets a man who might be “the one.” (A man who is not her fiancé.) Andrew Walker and Arielle Kebbel (Gilmore Girls) re-team for this one (previously they co-starred in A Bride for Christmas). Jaclyn Smith also stars.

Find Bridal Wave on DVD or to rent on Amazon Video!

#2 Looking for Mr. Right

Looking for Mr Right

Also known as My George, this romance stars Sarah Lancaster (Chuck) and tells the story of a romance writer who invents the perfect guy.

Looking for Mr. Right is available to stream on PixL Movie Channel (as My George).

#3 Love on Ice

Love on Ice Kiss

One of 2017’s Winterfest premieres, this one also stars Andrew Walker (a familiar Hallmark face) as a figure skating coach who teams with a retired skater with comeback plans.

#4 Love on the Sidelines

Romantic Hallmark Channel Originals

With vibes of Two Weeks Notice, this charmer is full of laughs and unexpected swooning. Conviction’s Emily Kinney stars.

Find Love on the Sidelines on DVD or to rent on Amazon Video!

#5 Portrait of Love

Romantic Hallmark Channel Originals

What really attracted me to this film was the fact that Logan Echolls, ahem, I mean Jason Dohring (Veronica Mars) was its leading man. Beyond this, everything else was just the cherry on top.

If you have trouble finding a copy to watch, Portrait of Love re-airs on Hallmark March 12, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. Bookmark for other shows times.

#6 A Royal Winter

Romantic Hallmark Channel Originals

In the tradition of Hallmark’s royal romances like A Princess for Christmas, this 2017 premiere introduces us to a newly minted law school graduate, and a prince wanting to be more than a figurehead.

#7 Undercover Bridesmaid

Romantic Hallmark Channel Originals

Cute and sappy, this romantic comedy stars Brooke Burns as a no-frills security expert hired by Gregory Harrison to protect his daughter on her wedding weekend. Of course, there are cute groomsmen, one of whom is played by none other than Jane the Virgin’s Justin Baldoni.

Find Undercover Bridesmaid on DVD.

#8 Unleashing Mr. Darcy

Romantic Hallmark Channel

If the title doesn’t give it away, a modern spin on Pride & Prejudice is where this one gets its inspiration. The laughs are frequent and the Lizzie/Darcy sparks work well. Unleashing Mr. Darcy is based on a novel by Teri Wilson. Read our review!

Unleashing Mr. Darcy comes to DVD this May!
