P.S. I Still Love You is the perfect rom-com to watch this Valentine’s Day!
Lara Jean returned to Netflix this week with more love letter fun with the To All the Boys sequel, P.S. I Still Love You. It picks up right where To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before left off with Lara Jean Covey (Lana Condor) “all in” and ready to make her once fake relationship with Peter (Noah Centineo) real. A relationship that feels all the more real when Peter picks her up for their first date, and her father (John Corbett) dishes out the usual “rules.”

Things seem to be going well for Lara Jean as she revels in going on a first date, holding hands and sharing kisses with Peter (for real!) whenever she wants. But with thoughts in her head that won’t quit, this bliss isn’t to last. To further compound this, those love letters return to create more confusion.
You see, another of the recipients of her middle school affection, John Ambrose (Jordan Fisher), arrives on her front step. His return soon complicates her relationships.
To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020) Netflix Review
It’s no secret To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is one of my favorite romantic-comedies I’ve ever seen. Perhaps it’s because I found the novel so thoroughly charming, or maybe it’s the old-fashioned vibe of the love letter trope, but whatever the reason, I unabashedly adore the first movie.
The second novel isn’t (to me) quite as good, but it’s entertaining nonetheless – something I hoped for with the Netflix sequel. Happily, my hopes panned out as the sequel delights.
PS I Still Love You continues to build on the adorableness of the plot we first fell for but keeps things fresh with some new faces and more of those we love. Kitty is still dang adorable; I still think John Corbett’s Dr. Covey is one of the best fictional dads, and of course, Lara Jean continues to be her wonderfully ordinary but beautiful self.

The one quibble I have as a pre-judgment first impression is Jordan Fisher’s casting as John Ambrose McClaren. What he’s been in before this, he has been excellent in, but he isn’t who I pictured as the character.
So, while I would probably still opt for different casting, I have to admit; happily, he plays the role just fine. As Jenny Han wrote him, though, I had a hard time imagining Fisher as the book character. Of course, as a whole, this entire cast is perfect.
Lara Jean’s baking game is also still strong. Peter and Lara Jean are still all kinds of adorable, but what strikes me most in this film is how well filmed it is. I love the production, just everything from the aesthetics to the overhead shots showing the hours passing in a day. It’s lovely.
Overall Thoughts
Overall, if you’re looking for something sweet, look no further than PS I Still Love You. There are lots of hand-holding, and like any solid romantic-comedy, this one leaves its viewer with a smile of pure joy, making this the best kind of sequel. And this is reason enough to watch this new romance.
Where to Watch: You can now, exclusively, stream PS I Still Love You on Netflix.
Content: There’s some innuendo/suggestive content (talk about when to have sex), profanity is limited or down to none. The film is TV-14.
