If you love romantic dance movies like Center Stage, then good news, a new one is coming soon. High Strung Free Dance (a sequel to High Strung) releases in theaters on October 11th and based on the trailer it looks great!

The film stars popular actors, dancers, and rising stars including the always amazing Jane Seymour, Thomas Doherty (The Descendants), Juliet Doherty, Ace Bhatti, Desmond Richardson, and Harry Jarvis. So You Think You Dance fans will also have a Nigel Lythgoe cameo to look forward to.

Besides the Nigel Lythgoe cameo, the entire movie was choreographed by SYTYCD‘s Emmy winning choreographer, Tyce Diorio. So, you know the dancing’s going to be fabulous. And with an all-new original soundtrack, the music’s going to be excellent as well.

On top of that, it’s produced by Jane Seymour and written by Broadway stars, Michael Damian and Janeen Damian. Michael Damian also directs.

So, this movie looks like a win all-around. But what’s the story? Let’s take a look at the synopsis and watch the trailer.

Zander Raines, a dazzling young choreographer (Thomas Doherty) gives the break of a lifetime to two hopeful artists when he casts a stunning contemporary dancer, Barlow and innovative pianist, Charlie (Harry Jarvis) in New York’s most-anticipated new Broadway show: Free Dance.

But the move throws off the show’s delicate creative balance when Charlie falls hard for Barlow (Juliet Doherty) while Zander embraces her as his muse. The emotions run hot igniting a rollercoaster of impassioned rivalry, romance and determination. The question is, how much are these talented artists willing to risk for love?

If there’s a romantic dance movie, I’ll definitely check it out. I admit to being a huge fan of the genre. I also faithfully watch So You Think You Can Dance each season and regularly attend Broadway shows. So, if you’re like me and enjoy any of the three above, then it sounds like it’s worth watching

Fans of The Vampire Diaries universe may also want to check out the film since Thomas Doherty was recently cast as a new romantic vampire in the popular CW show, Legacies. Can’t wait…

While High Strung Free Dance looks like it can be enjoyed as a standalone film, if you haven’t seen the first movie, you can easily catch up before the sequel’s release. You can currently stream High Strung on Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and Hoopla.

Are you going to check out the film? Do you have thoughts on the trailer? Let’s discuss in the comments.
