If Hulu’s your streaming site of choice, then you’ll be happy to know that there are some wonderful romances coming soon to Hulu in July. There are a few romantic period dramas, a few romantic dramas (old and new), a classic romantic comedy favorite, and even a fun genre show with an awesome TV couple to root for!

So, let’s get to it. Below, let’s take a look at my romantic recommendations for Hulu July 2018, each with the synopsis, personal commentary, rating, and the Hulu release date. Titles are listed in alphabetical order.

Before Midnight (2013)
IMDB Synopsis: We meet Jesse and Celine nine years on in Greece. Almost two decades have passed since their first meeting on that train bound for Vienna.
Why You Should Watch: While not as captivating as the first two films, Before Midnight is still a lovely romantic drama!

Beyond Borders (2003)
IMDB Synopsis: Beyond Borders is an epic tale of the turbulent romance between two star-crossed lovers set against the backdrop of the world’s most dangerous hot spots. Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie stars as Sarah Jordan, an American living in London in 1984. She is married to Henry Bauford son of a wealthy British industrialist, when she encounters Nick Callahan a renegade doctor, whose impassioned plea for help to support his relief efforts in war-torn Africa moves her deeply. As a result, Sarah embarks upon a journey of discovery that leads to danger, heartbreak and romance in the far corners of the world.
Why You Should Watch: If you enjoy old-fashioned war romances, then you’ll probably enjoy this movie! Angelina Jolie and Clive Owen star.

Why You Should Watch: While the film’s too violent for my taste, the romances are compelling and the film entertaining.

IMDB Synopsis: A down-and-out golfer attempts to recover his game and his life with help from a mystical caddy.
Why You Should Watch: Both a mystical fable and a period romance, this film’s a gem!

The Librarians, Season 4
Hulu Synopsis: Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle: ER, Falling Skies) may appear to be an ordinary librarian working for the world-famous Metropolitan Library, but beneath the public library lies the centuries-old headquarters of scholars and adventurers who investigate the bizarre, collect dangerous artifacts and save the world from supernatural threats. This is The Library, and Flynn is The Librarian.
Why You Should Watch: If you enjoy shows like Doctor Who, then you’ll probably enjoy The Librarians. Plus, the romance between Eve and Flynn is incredibly fun to watch!
TV-14 (though mostly feels TV-PG)

Midnight in Paris (2011)
IMDB Synopsis: While on a trip to Paris with his fiancée’s family, a nostalgic screenwriter finds himself mysteriously going back to the 1920s every day at midnight.
Why You Should Watch: If you love classic literature from the ’20s, time travel romances, or quirky films, then you should appreciate this fantasy romance.

Pretty in Pink (1986)
IMDB Synopsis: A poor girl must choose between the affections of her doting childhood sweetheart and a rich but sensitive playboy.
Why You Should Watch: If you haven’t seen this John Hughes’ classic, then you’ll want to rectify that right away. It’s a classic for a reason with some iconic pop culture moments.

IMDB Synopsis: An underdog lawyer takes on a fraudulent insurance company.
Why You Should Watch: This romantic crime thriller is a captivating movie from start to finish. Claire Danes and Matt Damon star.

Victoria & Abdul (2017)
IMDB Synopsis: Queen Victoria strikes up an unlikely friendship with a young Indian clerk named Abdul Karim.
Why You Should Watch: While not technically a romance, it is steeped in Romanticism and worth mentioning. Judi Dench gives a fabulous performance as always.

Witness (1985)
IMDB Synopsis: A young Amish boy is sole witness to a murder; policeman John Book goes into hiding in Amish country to protect him until the trial.
Why You Should Watch: A movie that feels like a romantic period drama but isn’t! It’s hard not to be drawn into this fabulous film about a star-crossed romance in the midst of crime and suspense.
Rated R for language, violence, and brief nudity.
