Period Dramas & Romance: The Best of What’s New to Netflix January 2018

Period Dramas & Romance: The Best of What’s New to Netflix January 2018

It’s hard to believe the New Year is almost here! A time for making New Year’s resolutions, going to parties, spending time with family and friends, and checking out what’s new on Netflix in the world of period drama and romance, of course. I’ve included a few of the recently added titles which were quietly added throughout December as well as some of the upcoming films and shows coming soon in January.

Grand Hotel - Edwardian Period

While there’s a fantastic new list of great content to choose from, a few personal highlights stand out. Grand Hotel, the best period drama series EVER, is back on Netflix. So, if you haven’t seen the unabashedly romantic series, check it out before it’s gone again. You won’t be sorry.

Other highlights include a few new period dramas from Brave New Jersey, Viceroy’s House (starring Gillian Anderson) to Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

WHAT TYPE OF CONTENT TO EXPECT IN THE LIST BELOW

If you’re in search of swoon-worthy love stories and romantic period dramas from around the world in Film and TV without the excess of explicit content – then you’ve come to the right place. We embrace romance unabashedly. From the Jane Austen adaptations to the swoon-worthy Korean dramas, to the BBC period productions, the paranormal romance, and more. Besides romance, we’re on the lookout for wonderful period and costume dramas, as well as a few bonus titles influenced by Romanticism.

THE SILVER STAR

Next to certain titles, you’ll find a silver star. This means that the Silver Petticoat Review Editors have seen and recommend these choices. The silver star represents our personal favorites. From the guilty pleasures to the award-winners, these are the ones we might recommend from one friend to another. That’s not to say that some of these other titles aren’t also fabulous just that these are the ones we’ve seen and love and could watch more than once!

ORGANIZATION

I organized the list by separating period dramas and romance (though some of the period dramas are also romantic) to make it easier to find what you’re looking for! I also added links to each title so you can learn what each film or show is about.

Enjoy…We’ve selected the best of what’s new for your viewing pleasure on Netflix January 2018!
