Ten TV Couples I’m Thankful For – Fall 2016 Edition

Scarlet Heart Ryeo -Ten TV Couples I'm Thankful For - Fall 2016 Edition
Hae-Soo and 4th Prince from Scarlet Heart Ryeo

It is that time of year when we all gather around the table and say what we are thankful for. And while it’s nice and wonderful to give thanks for family, friends, and our most adorable pets, sometimes we just want to shout out how much we love our favorite couple on TV (Just me??). But that’s not exactly the most appropriate venue, so I decided to open the floor for everyone to share the love stories currently airing on Television or go-to streaming site they are most passionate about. Here are some of my top choices for couples on TV this Fall. Bias completely allowed for all!! I admit to leaving out some old faves because of current, please die soon, plots (Oliver and Felicity I am thinking of you…)

Ten TV Couples I’m Thankful For

(In No Particular Order)

#1: Luke and Lorelai From Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

While Gilmore Girls wasn’t allowed to binge until today, I couldn’t help but include one of my fave couples of all time. Is everyone ready for the witty repartee between Luke and Lorelai again?

#2: Ross and Demelza from Poldark

Swoon!

Yes, Ross has been a total twit for a good majority of season 2, but I still adore these two. Plus, Demelza deserves her happy ending! Oh, and I really appreciate the several swoon-worthy romantic moments Ross and Demelza share constantly.

#3: Mike and Ginny from Pitch

While still early on in the show, I’m loving the slow build between Ginny and Mike on this female driven baseball show. Anyone with me?

#4: Ji Bai and Xu Xu from When A Snail Falls in Love

The more you get into this Chinese export currently airing on DramaFever, the more you will fall in love with the cuteness between Ji Bai and Xu Xu (an empathetic, female Sherlock type character). Xu Xu’s cute animal drawings that represent their relationship is extra adorable (Ji Bai is the lion and she is the snail). The suspense is picking up and I can’t wait to see how the rest of this intense romantic crime show unfolds.

#5: Bonnie and Enzo from The Vampire Diaries

While I’m a huge Bonnie and Damon fan, I know I’m not getting that ending. Thankfully, I’ve been loving the old-fashioned romance between Bonnie and Enzo. You can read more of my gushing here in a Romantic Moment of the Week: Bonnie and Enzo

#6: Chloe and Lucifer from Lucifer

Okay, so I was kind of hesitant about this show at first but Tom Ellis completely won me over! For those a little wary, the show is more a metaphor for redemption. I also love the clear influence from Forever Knight. The wonderful romantic build between the Byronic Lucifer and pure hearted Chloe is just the cherry on top.

#7: Shim Chung and Heo Joon-jae from The Legend of the Blue Sea

I dare you not to be enchanted by the magical chemistry between Shim Chung and Heo Joon-jae in this Korean mermaid series. By the end of episode one, there is already an adorable romantic moment in the rain….The Legend of the Blue Sea airs weekly on Viki!

#8: Sarah and George from A Place to Call Home

A Place to Call Home returned yesterday on Acorn TV and I couldn’t be more thrilled! I’m thankful for the mature, yet classy romance between the mysterious Sarah and handsome (and rich) George Bligh. We need more shows and couples like this one.

#9: Jane and Michael from Jane the Virgin

I’m including Jane and Michael because I am just so thankful Michael made it out alive! Here’s to hoping the writers keep their relationship just as interesting now that they are married.

#10: Hae Soo and 4th Prince Wang So from Scarlet Heart: Ryeo

Who needs Outlander when you have an epic tale of love in this Korean time travel romance? The ending still kills me! I’m eagerly hoping for a second season so Hae Soo and 4th Prince can get that happy ending. Until then, the Director’s Cut is coming soon…

Honorable Mentions: Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth seem promising thus far (I’ve only watched episode 1 of The Crown at this point), while I’m enjoying the possibilities between Mon-El and Kara over on Supergirl. I’m waiting to see how that one plays out. Other Honorable Mentions include: Eve and Flynn from The Librarians (I need to catch up), Emma and Hook from Once Upon A Time, and Jack and Rebecca from This Is Us.

About Autumn Topping

In second grade, Autumn wrote her first story, “The Spinach Monster,” and hasn't stopped writing since. Intrigued by the tales her grandmother told of vampires, witches, and ghosts as a girl, she's always been drawn to the fantastic. Later, Autumn studied English and Creative Writing (continuing her love for classic literature and everything old-fashioned) and graduated with an MA in Children’s Literature and an MS in Library & Information Science from Simmons College. Currently, she co-runs this lovely site and works as a YA Librarian.

    #8 Anna & Je-ha in The K2

#9 Mary & Frank in Doctor Thorne.

#10 Ji-Woon and Ha-Won in Cinderella and Four Knights.

  2. SO many good couples here! Haven’t caught up with ‘Jane’ for a long time, but will confess, I did always like Micheal. Also, love Sarah and George, Lorelai and Luke (forever!), and Ross and Demelza. From what I read, I’m going to be SO annoyed with Ross this season. But I’ll hope for the best. 🙂 Looking forward to see the end to Luke and Lorelai’s story, and maybe watching more “Lucifer.” I watched an episode when it premiered, and thought Ellis was WAY too good in the role. 🙂

  3. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH yasssssssssssssssssssssssssss my SooSo made the list<3 I adore Luke and Lorelai and Chloe and Lucifer*_* Bonenzo is just everything:'D
