Did the addicting new Outlander series, based on the acclaimed book series by Diana Gabaldon, draw you into the world of the 18th century Scottish Highlands? Or perhaps it was the budding time-travel love story between Jamie and Claire that kept you tuned to the TV on a Saturday night? In any case, with the show on hiatus until April, there’s just not enough Outlander to go around. Thankfully, Outlander fans will be happy to learn there’s a brand new tour from Brit Movie Tours that takes you to the beautiful and exciting Outlander filming locations in Scotland.
BRIT MOVIE TOURS
Brit Movie Tours was founded by Lewis Swan in 2009 and has quickly become a huge success. Spread throughout the UK, you can be taken on tours of Harry Potter, Downton Abbey, Sherlock, Doctor Who and more with expert guides and unique access. “To see or stand at a location where a favourite film or TV show was shot or a famous actor or actress strolled is a huge thrill for movie fans,” Lewis explains in the ABOUT of the official website.
Now, with the recent premiere (and huge success) of Outlander, there’s one more exciting tour for fans to add to their bucket list. The opportunity to visit gorgeous locations surrounded by rich Scottish history (with folklore and legends) combined with the fun of movie-making, creates a once in a lifetime experience for all Outlander fans and travel enthusiasts alike.
THE ALL NEW OUTLANDER TOUR
The Outlander Tour was recently added to the available tours from Brit Movie Tours, which all book and TV fans will want to sign up for when they learn what it entails. Plus, it’s also a great way to see a little bit of Scotland from a local expert. Not only will your guide talk all about the Outlander Book and TV series with lots of juicy behind the scenes tidbits, but you’ll also hear all about local history and legends.
OUTLANDER FILMING LOCATIONS
During the tour you’ll be able to visit Inverness (which is actually Lomond Hills), a 13th century castle used for filming Castle Leoch (the central location of the series so far), the Highland village of Cranesmuir (the home of Geillis Duncan), the 15th century castle used on screen as Lallybroch (Jamie Fraser’s childhood home) and more. What makes this tour even more exciting is that locations like “Lallybroch” are private property, so you’ll be able to visit locations you wouldn’t have access to on your own.
