The Top 20 Romantic Vampire Movie Couples

Get ready to sink your teeth into these romantic vampire movies.

For this list of romantic movies, I thought it would be fun to put a spotlight on 20 of the greatest romantic movie couples – that include…you guessed it: a vampire.

From the popular to the obscure, from the old to the new, I tried to make this list of romantic vampire movie couples pretty versatile from the many romantic vampire movies out there.

And while some people argue that vampire popularity is dying, new and, yes, popular vampire romance movies, romantic vampire TV shows, and paranormal romance books continue to prove that the genre has some bite left in it still.

So while vampires may disappear from time to time from the forefront, there will always be those of us who appreciate the vampiric genre as it continues to thrive in the shadows. Vampires are immortal, after all.

As for this particular list, many of the relationships (or at least unrequited on one end) chosen are between a vampire and a human, but some are between a vampire and a werewolf or a vampire and another vampire (putting a whole new spin on eternal love).

The only type of relationship I didn’t include were the romances present in a vampire movie where at least one-half of the couple (or pairing) wasn’t a vampire. So don’t expect to find Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992) or Priest on the list!

This list is the first in a series of two. The other list focuses on romantic vampire couples on television. So make sure to check it out.

Editorial Note: This list was published in 2014, so new vampire love movies have been released since then. Thus, this list only reflects choices up to 2014.

  1. I love all the top 20 lists you do but I always find these the most fascinating. And it never fails that I add another movie or two to my watch list. Great article.

    • Thank you! I think I personally I like doing these particular ones the most because I’m extremely interested in these types of characters! It’s fun doing the research because then I get to watch another movie or two as well –all for research purposes of course! Haha. 🙂

  2. I would have put Sonja and Lucian much higher than Selene and Michael. Its a much better love story in my opinion and they are more interesting characters. But interesting list.
